Welcome to Unity Christ Church of Bon Air, home of "practical Christianity."

Unity Christ Church of Bon Air was incorporated in 1986 and is a member of The Association of Unity Churches, a worldwide organization of churches located in all major countries and with over 800 Unity churches here in the United States.

WHAT IS UNITY?

Unity is a way of life. The teachings of Unity help in everyday life and provide a path to personal spiritual unfolding. The Unity principals are based on the teachings of Jesus the Christ, with the Bible as our basic textbook. Unity believes that there are many paths to God and to spiritual awareness. We honor people on their individual journeys. Unity believes all aspects of life interact and support one another; there is a "unity" in all things. Unity believes that our individual differences are necessary for the full expression of God in our world. Everyone is loved unconditionally by God. We are many and we are one.

Here are the basic ideas that make up the Unity belief system:

1. God is absolute good, everywhere present.

2. Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.

3. Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

4. Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings wisdom, health, prosperity and everything good.

5. Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

At Unity, everyone is welcome no matter what their past or present church affiliations might be. When Charles and Myrtle Fillmore founded Unity over 100 years ago, they were not trying to offer "a new religion" but rather provide supplementary principles that would support people within their existing religion. Unity is still that way today; one can subscribe to the Unity teachings and still retain membership in any other church.

Unity's viewpoint is that there need be no conflict of religious beliefs. Unity believes that there is good in every religion and that we should keep our minds open in order to find the good when the opportunity is presented. In keeping with this attitude, people of various religions the world over find good in the practical Christian principles taught by Unity. Unity has no strict creed or dogma. One might describe Unity as a spiritual philosophy seeking to find God's truth in all of life.

At Unity Christ Church of Bon Air, we are an active and growing congregation and are always looking for new members who would like to join. We welcome visitors. Our doors are always open to everyone.

Unity might not have all the answers, but for many it has been a godsend.
